(1) Regardless of poor box-office performance, negative critic's reviews. and low over-all support, Green Lantern is reportedly gearing up for a sequel. This comes after it is the lowest performing Superhero flick, thus far, in 2011 (following First Class and Thor). Currently, it has made $125 million domestically, and $16 million in foreign markets; nowwhere near the reported $300 million in production and advertisement costs.

(2) Christopher Meloni, who just left his career defining role on Law and Order: SVU, is now in talks to play in the Superman remake, Man of Steel. No word on who he will actually be playing, but some are speculating Lex Luthor. Which means, probably not Lex Luthor, ha.

(3) First picture of John Cusack as Poe in the upcoming mystery/thriller, The Raven.

Thompson on Hollywood

The movie, at least to me, sounds like it could be interesting. And Cusack kinda looks bad-ass.

Synoposis: Poe hunts for a serial killer who is modeling their crimes after Poe's own writings.

(4) Another Fast and Furious sequel is planned for release Memorial Day 2013.

(5) Daniel Craig and Rachel Weisz secretly wed. Only 4 people were in attendence.

(6) Columbo star Peter Falk dead at 83.

(7) A new Captain America trailer surfaced.

(8) James McAvoy is replacing his First Class co-star, Michael Fassbender, in the upcoming movie, Trances. Talk about irony.

(9) Joel Courtney, the little boy from Super 8, is in negotiations to become Tom Sawyer in a new adaptation of the beloved book.

(10) Missy Elliot shares that she was diagnosed with Graves' Disease.

(11) First official images from The Hobbit; Part 1:

(12) Lisa Edelstein, after quitting House, has become a part of The Good Wife. She probably wants a damned Emmy.

(13) Cars 2 has recieved some really bad reviews; still dominating the box-office.

(14) Bad Teacher is performing better than could've been asked for.

(15) Glee star, Cory Monteith, opened up about his drug obsessessed past.

(16) Penn Badgley, of Gossip Girl fame, has been chosen to play Jeff Buckley and the upcoming Bio-pic. Better than Robert Pattinson who has expressed interest in the role.

(17) Apparently, Jamie Foxx has landed the title role in Quentin Tarantino's Django Unchained; joining other possible A-listers like Leonardo DiCaprio and Christoph Waltz. I'm not a huge fan of Foxx, and would've greatly prefered Idris Elba in the role.

(18) Tobey Maguire is being sued for illegal gambling. Good news? he's awesome at poker.

(19) Past Smallville star, Sam Jones III, is being sentenced to prison after trying to sell 10,000 doses of oxycodone.

(20) Megan Fox is gearing up her come back. Is slated to appear in Sasha Baron Cohen's The Dictator.

(21) Idris Elba will star in Guillermo del Toro's Pacific Rim. Elba is setting himself up to be one of the biggest names in Hollywood.

(22) Douglas Booth has been casted as the Romeo to Hailee Steinfeld's Juliet.

(23) Pixar has landed a date of November 27, 2013 for a new film. The twist? Nobody knows what this new film is. Nothing about it.

(24) Lucy Punch is cast in FX's new series, Powers.

(25) Falling Skies is the top-watched cable launch of 2011. 5.9 million people watched the 2-hour series premiere.

There are a lot of goings-on in the entertainment world, but these are my hand-picked selection of the most important and most interesting snippets of the week.
